I’m Back

I’ve not posted more than a sentence or two on my beloved blog in a long time, and I’ve actually taken some time off from social media in general during the month of January.

But I’m writing this post now to say despite, and maybe perhaps because of, these last few weeks, I’ve realized how incredibly blessed I am with the people I have in my life-and I wanted to thank them by name.

My dear, dear friends:

Alex, Hill and Noor-such incredibly bright, kind, motivated, hard working young professionals- and they’re fun to boot. I know they’re going places in their careers, and it really bodes well for the future of our respective industries that a generous spirit, not a competitive nature, marks their interactions.

Erica, Katie and Lindsey-some of my all time favorite friends. So supportive and fun to be around-I only wish it could happen more often! I’m looking forward to helping Kate celebrate her 27th birthday this coming weekend-our friendship first began by celebrating her 13th birthday. So lucky to have them in my life.

Anner and Andrea-I love living with my friend. And I love that I’ve reconnected with Andrea after all these years—and let’s just say I love her powerpoint acumen and appreciate her facilitating an introduction this weekend

The Toppenbergs and Cassadys-When I can’t be with my family who lives in St. Louis, I’m so blessed to spend time with these two Chicago families.

The scholarship fund board members-I am so beyond excited to keep growing our fund, and to work with these smart, creative people to help accomplish this-it’s another blessing.

And of course my family. I pray good things come my Mom’s way, because she works so hard and loves us all so much-I can think of no one who deserves them more. I wish everyone had a mother that was as giving as Deb is. Jen, Jimmy, Jord and my puppy Jess-my wonderful siblings. My Grandma whom I love so much, my aunt Shirley-I’m so happy such wonderful things are happening with her boys and the Finnegans-such amazing people whom I look so forward to sharing Christmas with every year. And while this month marked nine years of being without my father,  I know that he’s pulling for me, pulling for his family, from his peaceful resting place in heaven. And I know that every time I put pen to paper, or finger to key, it’s the McDonnell writing talent he passed down to me, his number one, shining through.

I thank God for my blessings, and I can honestly say I look forward to what the future brings.
